hardness tests

is shown as “23-27 R ASTM E384-89.”
I am assuming that the "R" is Rockwell R, which cannot be measured by ASTM test method E384 (Knoop, Vickers).
Perhaps the measurements were made in accordance with ASTM E384 and then translated into what they thought was the equivalent Rockwell R value.
Is there a formula for converting Vickers to Rockwell R?

Thanks very much ijzer but the conversion tables in ASTM E 140 don't cover Rockwell R (60 kgf, 1/2" ball). Anyone else know of a conversion?

I further checked and found that Rockwell R is used for plastics only , so you will not find a conversion to Vickers
