B31.3 331.1.7 requires hardness testing of production welds and sets the limits for Max Brinell Hardness in Table 331.1.1. I'd prefer to use Brinell testing in accordance with ASTM E10 or E110. I have a supplier that wants to use an ultrasonic portable hardness tester (does not meet ASTM E10 or E110). Does B31.3 specify the required method for hardness testing?
