Let’s say we have a reasonably small pump and only want to measure vibration with a triaxial permanently mounted sensor on the IB of the motor due to its location. If a defect occurred on the OB of the motor or the pump bearing what would the vibration look like?

Is there any literature surrounding this?

It would show p, but not necessarily very obviously. Yes, if you do a modal analysis you can measure the transfer function of acceleration at the IB to the acceleration at the OB.

Cheers
