Anyone have a recommended foundations book to get, heavy on retaining wall examples?

I think Das also has a book called Foundation Design. It has a lot of design examples, and goes through Rankine and Coulomb procedures, not just E.F.P.

There is also a book available whose content is strictly on retaining walls. I don't recall the exact title, sorry. The book is rather old and isn't likely in publication any longer. I suggest checking out

and using "retaining walls" as a key word search or the library at an university.

I do agree with Ivan, the Foundation Analysis and Design, author Joseph E. Bowles from McGraw-Hill is the in my oppinion de the best one avaiable for a practical engineer it covers the hole kind of foundations problems giving examples, soil improvement techniques and may other aspects and also does have some very usefull computer programs written in Fortran that I found very usefull as a guidance to create my own ones.
I should say that this book is a "must have" one even for structural people like myself.

I believe the book Qshake is referring to is "Standard Cantilever Retaining Walls," by Morton Newman. It was published in 1976 and reprinted by Robert E. Krieger Publishing Company (a publishing company for out of print books) in 1981. The entire book (648 pages) consists of worked out examples of retaining walls. I would highly recommend the book if you can find it anywhere. Krieger would be the first place to start your search.

I think too that the "Foundation Analysis and Design" by Bowles is good for design. The Concrete Reinforcing Steel Institute Design Handbook used to have (I do not know if it still has that section) retaining wall tables with dimensions, reinforcing and lots of typical details.

Just like tickets to the current Bulls games, a very reasonably priced and practical book is put out by the navy,

it's either DM3 or DM7 and can be found online in PDF format for free.

I agree with earlier comment that "Foundation Analysis and Design" by Joseph E. Bowles is excellent.
