Force required for cold forming 1

I have to quote a machine to cold roll a taper on a 1/2" shaft. Given the material, speed of penatration, and dimensions of the finished part, is there a way to calculate force required? Any resource will help.

I'd suggest getting hold of a copy of "Tool and manufacturing engineers handbook" from your library service (it is expensive to buy a copy like I have)

Both these books are excellent resources for the sort of information you are after, but both are pretty expensive to buy so a trip to your local library is a cheaper alternative.
