I love this video. Very educational. Notice how little effort is involved to get the desired result - just a little at a time in the right place.

Like tuning a piano by ear! Great video, Mike. Thanks.

The thing that amazes me is how accurate he is with that sledge hammer. He never misses a pin. I would probably flail around hitting the odd one straight on, hitting some a glancing blow and missing some altogether. Looks like pretty good exercise, though.

Judging from the mushrooming of his chisels, this "ain't his first rodeo"!

The gray haired man makes this look so easy. A friend was a stone mason at one time and he used to work on high end fireplaces for ski lodges. He has told many stories of days of pounding rocks into shape. Great video. I hope some of our trades will hold onto these skills, but youth does not seem to want to work that hard anymore.

Ironic that while viewing the video, an add came up for concrete sawing!

His comment in Portuguese at the end was "cortou mal como o caralho". You guys really need to google this... :)

As was said in "The Incredibles" There is no school like the old school!

The effort part of the exercise wasn't shown- it's in drilling the holes to fit the "feathers and wedges" which are typically used to split the stone. He is seen cleaning out one of the end holes- sure hope he didn't drill them all with a chisel too!

I found this one interesting: a guy moving huge concrete blocks, and a barn, using two pivots and a lever etc.

Well I guess that dispels the need for safety goggles.
