I have an assembly with approximately 50% sheet metal details. Our best practice, when creating prints in NX, is to create a drawing of the assembly. When creating prints for individual items of the assembly, I create individual detail views by hiding all of the components in the assembly but the detail I want to dimension. I want to create flat patterns for the sheet metal components. When I use the "Flat Pattern" function the view NX creates ("FLAT-PATTERN-11") isn't on the list of "Model View to Use" because the drawing is created in the assembly. It, of course, shows the view if I create a drawing for the specific detail. Is there a way to get the flat pattern view to show in the print for the assembly?

when you're trying to add the view, at the top of the Base View dialog, change the part to the one containing the flat pattern view.
You should then be able to select the flat pattern view in your list.

In 5 years I've never noticed the "Part" drop down section under the "Base View" dialog. Your instructions get me exactly what I need. Thanks so much!
