Flat Head (UG-34) Calculations

Unfortunately, I will have to perform hand calculations for a flat head on a vessel, RFWN, B16.47....Can someone offer some tips on required thickness calcs., MDMT calcs, and any other pertinent calc.s I need to calculate a flat head...I have no software, no Section VIII, or B16.47 as of now...Let me know if someone can help....

If I had the time, trust me, there are several places I could check out, but unfortunately, I'm under constraints b/c I work for an engineering firm, and I'm putting in 12 hour days and working on the weekend...Thanks anyway,

If the design has to meet any particular code, there's simply no substitute for having the code in question.

If the design doesn't have to meet any particular code, check out Roark's Formulas for Stress and Strain. For non-critical applications, assume a cover plate is a circular plate, loaded over whole area, with OD equal to the bolt circle diameter. For critical applications, use the code in question.

If you're using a standard B16.47 WN flange on your shell you could also use a standard B16.47 blind flange without performing any calculations.
