Hello Everyone,
I am looking for data for a benchmark problem i can use to check the accuracy of the FEM codes (INVENTOR & ANSYS STRUCTURAL) that I am using. Can anyone help me with it or suggest where or how i can get it?

Thanks!
Jimmy

i'm not familiar with "fichera" problem, but in reply to your post, pick any problem that you know the answer two (something you can solve classically, exactly). a single element test tells you alot about how the elements work

Most codes have some kind of verification manual that installs with the program (its been a while, but I'm sure I remember ANSYS having this as well). They run through a list of sample problems and how the code benchmarks to those problems (usually at the end of each is a table with Theory/Code/%Error).

having googled "fichera", he showed how to develop the minimum energy solution to internal strain energy, that is at the root of FEA.

i'm preapred to accept that today's FEA produces an overall freebody, ie that equilibrium is satisified, and would only check it if i'd sprinkled SPCs through out the model ... and then rather than checking the sums, i'd be looking at where the load went.
