Extract part from feature?

In the past I have used SDRC-Ideas and was able to extract a part from a feature on a part.

Can this be done in solidworks? I have a feature sketched on a part that really should be a part reporting to an assy.

I know I could cut and paste the skecth and pick a plane.

Any suggestions?

You can create a library feature and refer to the library if it's something you use commonly.
