Hello,

Our plant is currently on an extended period of shutdown (probably 4 weeks) and I would like to know if there are any procedures that need be done for the steam & thermal oil distribution piping during the shutdown.

On the boilers side, they are currently being run for several hours on a regular basis but the main steam & thermal distribution valve are currently closed. Is it worthwhile to open the main valves from time to time during this shutdown period or can we wait after the shutdown has ended? For instance, will the fitting gaskets be affected by this shutdown?

Thanks

Rgds,
Davis

Since it is for 4 weeks only, elaborate preservation methods are not required. Dose adequate oxygen and carbon dioxide scavengers. Check pH, oxygen content and TDS every two days.

Would it be possible to circulate the unheated oil every day or two ?

Does the oil system have a filter or strainer installed ?

Would it be possible to install a temporary SS strainer or filter just for use during an outage period .

Contact the oil vendor and ask this question ...

Please respect us and tell us what your final solution is ...
