Export files form SDRC IDEAS to SW 2

How do I create a .pkt file form SDRC IDEAS to be later on converted into a SolidWorks file.

What is a ".pkt" file? Did you mean ".prt"?

SolidWorks can open many file types, but ".pkt" is not one of them.

If possible, exporting a parasolid (.x_t, .x_b, .xmt_txt or .xmb_bin) format from IDEAS would yield the best result for import into SW.

I know prt is a PROE part file. A company has offered to translate our SDRC source files into SW. The sales guy is asking for a "paket" file. I've never heard of such thing. Thank you

Which file formats can your version of I-DEAS create?

Do you have access to SolidWorks?

Are you sure the guy isn't asing for a package file? Unless something has changed in the last few years, a package file is the text file created upon exporting data that allows the receiving installation to know where the data should reside.

Sounds like the service bureau is asking for a package file that will easily allow them to import the I-DEAS data into their installation. If you have a set of files (.prt, .asm, etc.) along with a .pkg file, send them to the service bureau. If all you have are the .prt files, send them anyway - a .pkg file isn't needed if you know your way around I-DEAS.

It is also a UG(NX) file, and UGS bought out SDRC and now owns Solid Edge.
