Good morning, I have a 2" hex block and in each of the six flats I have a mated part and I tried to use exploded view to explode each of the six parts, but when I tried to explode the parts in faces that were not at 90 or 180 degrees the part did not move straght out from the surface but rather in angled directions. Is there a way to make SW project each of the six mated parts out 90 degrees from the face of the hex block? I hope this is clear, but if not I will try to explain it better. Thank you in advance for any assistance that is rendered.

Thank you for the response, Jeff. I tried it and got the same old thing. I tried using the centerline of the mated part, which would be 90 degrees to the hex surface and the parrt was off on an angle. I am use SW Office 2006 sp4.1. Thanks again.

I just tried this, but I picked the appropriate face of the hex part to define the explode direction. Worked fine with SW2006, SP4.0.

Thanks, dgowans, that did the trick.

Glad to help.

Are you certain that the parts to be exploded were mated such that their centerlines were normal to the hex faces? If they were, I'd report this to SWX as a bug.

Thanks again and I am curtain they are.

dgowans answered this, but just to add on, you can grab the yellow sphere on the coordinate system manipulator and place it on faces to get the direction.
