Excel formula length error

According to the Excel 2002 specifications, one can have up to 32,767 characters in a cell; 1,024 characters will display in the cell and all 32,767 will display in the formula bar.

When I try to enter character number 1,025 into the formula bar (or the cell) I get a "Formula is too long." error message.

What do I need to do to enter more characters?

I think that you can enter 32k characters in the cell, but if the cell contains the formula then it can be only 1k long.
