Is there an easy way to find something on multiple worksheets without selecting each sheet and doing a ctrl-f? That's too much work when I have 100 worksheets.

Highlight the sheets needing to be searched. Do the normal ctrl-f search and Excel will show you all matches.

How does it show which sheets it was found on? I keep hitting find next and it only cycles through whatever it found on the first sheet it came to.

You must first highlight the sheets you are searching. Hold down the control key and and highlight the sheets or hold down the shift key and highlight all the sheets. Then do the Control-F search. Watch the title on the highlighted sheet to see the different sheets the object appears.

A word of caution be sure to unhighlight the multiple sheets before continuing doing work because any changes you do will be done on all sheets highlighted.

This multiple sheet selection is a way to change all the sheets print setups all at once.

I did a simple test with 3 sheets and put the same word on two of them and something different on the third. I hilited all the sheets and did the crtl-f search. It found only one of the sheets. Then I did an ungroup.

If that's all it's supposed to do then it did it but I'd like to know all the sheets where it's found.

I did the test and the cursor jumped to each instance on each page before cycling back to the first one. I'm using Excel 2003. Maybe earlier versions act differently.

Hello,

I think it may be something to do with the cells selected on each sheet. Either select only one cell on each sheet or select all the cells.

I.e.
If you have the word 'and' in cell D10, if you select the range A1:C7 on the current sheet, it doesn't seem to find it.
To resolve this when you have grouped all the sheets, select a single cell, this will change each sheet selected.

Has this resolved the problem?

Hope this helps.

We're on Excel 97 which is probably the problem. None of the proposed solutions work.

Thanks for trying.

If still interested, after ctrl-f (or from Edit menu, find), click on the Options button and in the cell labeled within, select Workbook instead of Sheet. Doesn't matter what sheet your currently viewing.

I had started to write one myself but it will be much easier to modify this one. Thanks
