Is it possible to edit a formula that displays cell names instead cell references?

? Edit to do what? You can edit anything that's in a cell.

Thanks Doug. I was going crazy editing my formulas. As soon as I started to edit one, all of the names disappeared and were replaced with the cell references. I was looking for a setting in the Excel program options and couldn't find it.

Thanks again!

The problem is back again! My problem seemed to be solved when I went to 'Apply' and clicked on all of the range names. The Ignore Relative/Abosolute box was checked and the Use row and column names box was checked.

So now when I copy one of the formulas, the names are copied and appear in the cell as they should be. Now, if I go to edit the cell formula, the range names remain after I click into the edit window at the top. Great! But if I edit the cell formula a second time, the name disappears and I see the cell address instead.

I have Excel 2007 and I have saved my spreadsheet as a '97-2003 xls file so that I can use it at home with an older version.

Does anyone know what I am doing wrong?

Excel does occasionally have database corruption problems, so doing Paste Special "formulas" onto a new spreadsheet might make a difference.

IR: Could I use a regular paste and loose the database corruption if that is the problem? I don't want to loose my formating. I would still have to set up all of my column widths.

Can't hurt to try...

You can paste special Formulas followed by paste special Formats.
