Dynamic Load Factor for Water Hammer 1

Does anyone know what a maximum Dynamic Load Factor (DLF) would be for a piping system affected by water hammer?

I've seen and/or heard from multiple engineering firms that they use a DLF of 1.5. From everything I've read, water hammer typically has a trapezoidal ramp function which could mean a maximum DLF of 2.0 (for single impacts).

Does anyone know where this 1.5 comes from? I'd love to have some literature to back up the use of a less conservative DLF.

I find it odd that more than 1 firm has made the same claim, so there may be some validity to it.
 
In regard to what?
Loads applied to the piping system?
For estimating dynamic pressures in the piping system?
For estimating loads applied to supports?
 
For estimating loads applied to the piping system by the water hammer. This would be used in the pipe stress analysis.
 
So than what would you multiply by the load factor of 1.5?

 
Dynamic load factor maximum is 2.0. For a pseudo static analysis use 2.0. You could always perform a hydraulic analysis then you could take the loads from it and do a dynamic load analysis of the piping without the DLF.
