Drafting Vertical Dimension with No Leader

Hi,

I'm trying to create a vertical dimension in NX7.5 drafting. When trying to place the value for the dimension outside of the arrowheads, I want the dimension to appear centered above the arrowheads without a leader. When I try to remove the dimension leader in dimension style menus, I end up with the picture attached. Is there a way to get rid of this weird offset and how do I implement this change into my drafting standard. Thanks

I just figured it out. Don't know how to delete thread.

You can either 'Red Flag' it and ask that it be deleted, or what I would do is make this a 'teaching moment' and simply post how it was that you were able to finally accomplish what you needed to do, just in case someone else might like to learn how to do the same thing.

After all, one the values of the Eng-Tips Forum is that you can flag a thread thus putting a link to it in your personal archive so that in the future this can be referenced if the need arises again. I've done that with many of my own posts, where I suspect that this topic will come-up in the future and so why should I have to regurgitate a response from memory again. I also tag other peoples posts who have given me some good ideas or who have provided a well thought-out answer for something which I'm sure will be a topic of discussion here in the future.

So post what you learned and allow the rest of us to benefit from it ;-)

Ok, thanks for the response John. I haven't figured out how to put this into my drafting standard, but I have figured out how to change the dimension on the fly, which is good enough for now. I guess I didn't try hard enough in dimension style because the answer was right under my nose. I've uploaded a picture showing the simple drop-down selection to make the needed change.

I have another question regarding drafting dimensions. I want to make an arc length dimension but the extension lines aren't perpendicular to the arc I'm measuring. I've attached a second picture showing my problem and in red shows my desired extension line position.

Contrary to what you might think would be logical, the extension line style which NX supports is preferred by virtually all international Drafting standards, per the image below:

I think that is because the desired method of the OP could be too confusing with angular dimensions.
