Hello, I am trying to make a drawing detailing an M6 threaded hole that lies on a contoured surface using a dowel hole to locate the centerpoint for machining.

I have searched around a bit for instruction or example drawings of something similar and cannot find anything. Anyone have any experience with detailing something like this this? The only feature on this part I'm concerned about detailing is the single M6 threaded hole. I am going to upload this file, it's a 3in x 5in block - appreciate any help anyone can give me with this.

jhag84,

I can interpret your drawing. If this were my drawing, I would have placed all the dimensions for your M6 hole on the top view, but that may be just me. You have not specified any datums or tolerances. You will have a hard time proving that the part delivered does not conform to your drawing.
