Defects on a substrate coated with Teflon Powder

Hello: Due to print specifications, we are required to grit blast our substrates prior to powder coating. The powder is a mixture of teflon and SiC. After curing, some rolls have a defect that we call grit or protrusions. Analysis of defects shows grit or SiC. Has anyone seen this type of defect?

Hey Steved,
I am in charge of the rotomolding division at my Mfg. company. We have 75+ cast aluminum molds. The management thinks only one magic place in the states that can apply the Teflon coating on the interior of the molds. I shot my mouth off saying this material is applied with a powder coating process and if one has the Teflon powder compound and the process parameters any reputable powder coater could apply it. Could you comment on the process that you are obviously knowledgeable on so I can make plans to eat crow if required.
