Dear all.
I want to weld dissimilar materials: copper (Cu) and 316L stainless steel using the TIG welding process. what type of electrode and filler rod are suitable? thank you for your answer.

Regards

Not a winner, the two materials won't fuse properly, but instead form intermetallic bonds that are weak.

It's possible to make a brazed joint work, using a silver-based braze alloy. It's possible to purchase an explosively formed tube junction (bimetallic tube coupling) and weld each side of it to the mating material. I think you would be more likely to find aluminum/copper junctions and aluminum/stainless junctions, i.e. making 3 welds to join the tubes.

ERNi-1 if you must weld. Other alloys will work, you need <65% nickel. I prefer brazing in this case.

several articles were carried out using ErNi-3 welding wire/filler rod for TIG. What is the difference with ErNi 1 and ErNi-3? I weld plates with a thickness of 3 mm Cu and SS 316L.
