Hello all

attached is a sample assembly image.
I inserted a plane in the assembly using point and curve object and by selecting two holes.
my question is if i move any block, the datum is not associative even though i checked the associative box on.
let me know if i can make datum associative.thanks
nx 7.5

OK, the 'Associative' option on the Datum Plane dialog is only part of what you need to do. When you're in the context of the Assembly, in addition to setting the 'Selection Scope' option to 'Entire Assembly' you will also need to toggle ON the 'Create Interpart Link' option (the icon immediately to the Right of the 'Selection Scope' entry widget, as shown below). This, along with the 'Associative' option, will create inpart relationships between the Datum Plane and the axis of holes in the Components so that if you subsequently move one of the Components, the Datum Plane will update as expected.

thank you very much john for detailed description...

Is this the same in NX 6? I can't toggle create interpart link when I select faces in my assembly in NX 6. My customer defaults are set to allow all interpart modeling.

While the ability to create 'Interpart' (AKA WAVE) links/relationships on-the-fly was available in NX 6.0, there was NO explicit support for creating Datum Planes/Axis in the context of an Assembly and having them be associative to referenced objects in the Components. This support for interpart associative Datums was an enhancement implemented in NX 7.5.
