Under AWS D14.4, if a welder tests on a joint combining group 1 and group 3 materials, is he qualified to weld G1 to G1 and G3 to G3 as well? 7.18.1 just states that he needs to be qualified to weld each group.

Mr168,

I don't know if I can be of any help, one thing to say is I don't know AWS D14.4, but I do know S9074-AQ-GIB-010/248 Welding Procedure Qualification Requirements. Which is all related in some way. I'll assume G1 is a Grouping of base material? Typically welding different grouping would be qualified as dissimilar metal welds. Does AWS D14.4 have any cross qualification tables of different groupings?

Thanks for the offer, but I was able to help him get everything situated after nit-picking through the code.

ctaylor36...post your question separately...you've tagged onto another thread that is a bit old and is not exactly the same subject as yours
