Does anyone know if RSMeans CostWorks has line items for professional design services? I would assume that it'd be a line item based on type and square footage of building, or a percentage of the estimated construction cost. Thanks.

line item based on type and square footage of building - no

percentage of estimated construction cost - yes

If you are asking this question because you are considering paying for a subscription in order to use the software for estimating competitive structural design fees for your proposals, then in my opinion you should save your money. It will only give you a vague generalization or rule of thumb of what you probably already know, i.e. for structural design fees somewhere around 0.75% to 1.0% of construction cost if I remember correctly off the top of my head.

The software is no doubt useful for its true intended user group, which is contractors and/or builders, but in my opinion, it is of little use to engineers for estimating proper profeesional services fees.
