I thought there was an easy way to do this.

I don't want to bring over all the data etc. Just a simple graphic.

I could screen print, but that is a little messy.

Any other easy way.

Never mind. Paste special does the job.

Sure, Paste Special as DIB. Older versions of Powerpoint have trouble with the default paste options...

FAQ731-376

We discovered just yesterday that images special pasted (not wmf of wmd etc) directly from Excel can be right click edited after pasting. Useful to modify axis labels. Kind of risky as the bars can be moved around like any other drawing object. For that reason I think I'll stick with copy>paste into paint for rework>save as TIF to insert into doc. BMP images are less grainy but too danged big

Also good to know: you can hold the Shift key while clicking on Edit in the menu bar. This will give you the option "copy as picture" which allows you to set the resolution, and you can then easily paste it into Word.

Joerd

What I do - save your chart in pdf. Then save the pdf as jpg after suitable cropping, etc. Then insert in word.

One of the other options is to copy the chart into Paint and then size the graph.
This also helps with Powerpoint slides

Select the chart in Excel and then Edit Copy, then in Word Paste Special as Enhanced Metafile.
It is a bit sensitive selecting the chart but easier if you use View Chart Window first.

"copy/paste" works ... i find i have to reformat the resulting picture as "layout/square" before it'll go onto a drawing canvas.
