Hi,

I'm looking at an single-story, L-shaped, wood-framed building and the potential need for a collector truss. What I'm having trouble with is the collector truss-to-top plate connection on the side opposite the re-entrant corner. If my collector force is say 3kip, what connection or connector is available to transfer that?

Simple sketch below.

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

but you wouldn't have 3kip lateral connection there. You only need to connect that load to the shear wall participating in resisting it. The load gets into the collector truss along it's length from the connection to the roof sheathing.

Jayrod12 is right. Your collector force is 3k at th eend of the shear wall but reduces to zero at the opposite end.

You're the best. Thanks.
