Cold Form Stud Shear Wall Tie Down Strap - Will it Interfere with Densglass Instsallation

The detail below generated the following review comment from our architect: will the screws connecting the shear wall tie down straps to the metal studs interfere with the Densglass sheathing installation? You know, because they stick out a bit. Kinda seems like they might interfere. So my questions are these:

1) Is interference with the sheathing installation a legitimate issue?

2) What's the lowest low profile sheet metal screw that one can get?

3) Any other, better ideas? Simpson's got some twist straps that allow one to connect to the sides of the studs but I've not yet find one fully suitable.

Looking to move about 1500 lbs ASD.

I don't personally think it's a huge issue. What are we talking here.. maybe a quarter inch?

This is standard in my world. Look at a modified truss head or pancake head screw for the lowest profile head. Material build-up is hard to eliminate.

Well that sounds encouraging. Thanks guys. Part of my concern is that, seeing as I'm hoping for these to be shear walls, it would be nice if the sheathing could be robustly attached to the studs.

I doubt there would be any issues, but it may depend on the cladding system which will be used over the sheathing.

You might want to change your note regarding staggering you PAF's unless you give a minimum edge distance somewhere else in your notes. I believe 3" clear is what most manufacturer's recommend.

Flatten the installation out with a chunk of 2x6 on the flat and the judicial application of a hammer... If the architect is concerned about integrity of the envelope, a small piece of blueskin over the fastening... but, it increases the thickness <G>.

My understanding is that one layer is not an issue. I've never seen complaints anyway.
When you have straps crossing straps (for whatever reason) is when build-up is an issue.

It might be that your strap looks very thick as it is drawn in the detail. The thickness appears exaggerated and architects seem to base everything on what they see, not what they read...
