Hi All,

I am sure this topic must have been discussed here but not able to search the right thread.

Is there a way to clone an assembly with all its parts and related drawing files? We are working on master model concept.

to simplify the process
I created a model file model1.prt and created a drawing file model1_sheet01.prt by choosing the part in the dialog box itself and they are in the same folder.

Now when i try to clone model1.prt i can see that nx is searching for non-component references but in the exception box i can not see model1_sheet01.prt. When i execute, drawing file is not cloned.

Am i doing something wrong?

the trick is to put the main assembly in a new large collection assembly ( incl. all drawings) and clone this....

Dear uwam2ie,

Thanks for the reply.

Yes this is one way. Second is to select each drawing part during clone process.

My question is, when is nx is searching for non-component references, what is it searching for?

During import into TC we have an option to select all files from a folder. And if the file naming criteria is met all drawings in the folder will be imported as specifications. This option is missing in native.

Desgur,

Non-component references can include Interpart expressions, Wave linked geometry, etc. which are not limited to being in the component part files.

I think what you are looking for is ugzippc freeware utility. You can find it somewhere on this forum

NX7.5 + TC8.3

To learn more about the UGZIP utility this is where you need to go:
