CHS TO CHS WELDED CONNECTIONS ACCORDING TO AWS

i have a chs to chs welded connection, the required weld is a cjp weld, after checking the AWS 2010 i found details for the welding procedure described in figures 3.6 , 3.7 3.8 , 3.9 3.10

my question is can anyone tell me gow can i determine the area for each detail!!

i mean for example the heel area has its own details , but how can i determine the heel area in the connections!!
