Hi,

“Changes may be made in the non-essential variables of a WPS to suit production requirements without requalification provided such changes are documented with respect to the essential, nonessential, and, when required, supplementary essential variables for each process. This may be by amendment to the WPS or by use of a new WPS”. This is mentioned in ASME SEC IX. But such written requirements are not found in AWS D1.1 for qualified WPS in accordance with chapter 04 (edition available is 2015). Comments on this subject would be appreciated as per AWS D1.1. Please help.

Your first mistake is trying to mix apples and oranges.

Your second mistake is trying to make AWS conform to or compare to ASME Section IX.
