Category D service....B31.3

Hi all,

(a) Category D Fluid Service: a fluid service in which
all the following apply:
(1) the fluid handled is nonflammable, nontoxic,
and not damaging to human tissues as defined in
para. 300.2
(2) the design gage pressure does not exceed
1035 kPa (150 psi)
(3) the design temperature is from −29°C (−20°F)
through 186°C (366°F)

The above is the definition from B31.3. It doesn't sound like anything in O&G can be considered cat. D?/?
ALSO
If produced water line or salt water disposal facility is under 150psig, does that mean it's Cat D??

and 150# and under steam and condensate.

If it will burn, regardless of flashpoint, it is 'Normal Fluid Service'

thanks Duwe6, I'm guessing you mean steam and it's condensate, because in my place,when we say "condensate", it's basically the condensate of natural gas or low density crude...

Correct, condensed steam. All hydrocarbons are "Normal Fluid Service"

Some clients will consider Produced Water a "product", so in my mind, it's not exactly Aqufina in there. It's worth investigation into what's really going to be in the PW line before assuming that it is nontoxic etc.
