Does any one have any comments or thoughts on the legacy di/dt approach vs the IEEE Std C37.012 approach in sizing series reactors for transmission capacitor banks for back to back switching. I'm a younger engineer (only 5 years), and feel the new IEEE approach is more realistic and provides a more realistic reactor size. Any thoughts?

Dan,
Good for you.
I will answer your question tomorrow or by Tuesday .What is the voltage of the caps and the voltage of the system and are these series reactors for a filter bank?
If these caps are in series with a reactor what is the voltage rise on the cap bank? How are the caps grounded and how many caps per phase and the voltage rating?
Jack
