My experience is in bridge design but I am interested in buildings. Does anyone have any good reference books for structural detailing, general jargon, etc. for buildings? Kind of an overall view of things. I'm just looking for something to soothe my curiosity about building design. More of a for my information only type of deal.

What are the odds that two guys with the last name Gaylord would come together to make a structural engineering book?

try to look for Elwyn Seelye book

Poems are made by fools like me, but only God can make a tree. engineers creates wonderful buildings, but only God can creates wonderful minds

BridgeEI,

What bridge design books do you recommend for the building structurals interested in bridges.

Design of Wood Structures, 6th edition by Breyer, Fridley, Cobeen and Pollock

Excellent book for buildings and wood design

Thanks all for the input! My recommendation for bridges would be Bridge Engineering Handbook by Chen & Duan. It gives a lot of basic information and philosophy you need as well as some design examples. FHWA is also a great source, they have PDF examples or a full bridge design for concrete and steel girders.
