Hi everyone,

I am interested to know how does you all as engineer analysis and design a high rise.
Lets just say, a 40 storey high building, each with 3m floor to floor.
Floor footprint 20 x 80m

In my region, a high rise is analysis in one model with all beam connection is assumed fixed, and lateral load such as wind load is applied.
That model is used to check against the horizontal deformation and for shear wall design.
Then, a single floor is modelled in another model with custom engineer-decided beam connection (i.e pinned) and horizontal element is designed using this model.
Advantage: Fast and cheap
Disadvantage: Beam detailing do not reflect the actual required reinforcement as in whole model that experience lateral force.

I believe in this forum there are engineer from almost all around the world.

How do your region analysis and design a high rise?
