Guys,

Has anyone heard of the .brd file format?

And does anyone know how to export a prt file to .brd?

We have a request to export a PCB board outline to a ".brd"

Normally, we export a prt file of the boardby "save copy -> ECAD IDF (*emn)". No-one here has heard of .brd....although I think it is a Cadence format...at least that's what google thinks :-)

Thanks in advance!

might be a protel format

is Orcad

brd file is from PICAD.

When i import whole pcb board from picad.

I always do next steps:

1.rename *.brd file in to *.emn

2.rename *.pro or *.lib in to emn

3. drag *emn file from explorer in to proe and when it asks you if is
this asm or prt you click on asm (names must not hawe space or dot
or...in the name)

4.when it asks you which is library file you show *.emp file

5.sometimes u need to correct lines or hights

6.sawe your work

see atttached picture, this is what you get

it works in rewerse way from proe to picad to

Hi Kleman,

Thanks mate!

So to reverse the process and export - I do the following(?):

1. Save Copy my *.prt-> ECAD IDF (*emn)

2. Rename the *.emn to *.brd(?)

I'll try this and send to customer and ask them if it works.

Thanks to all youGuys for your help!

Quick Feedback -- It worked.

Emailed it accross...the guy imported it into Mentor(?) while I was on the Phone!

If they hawe PICAD you dont need to rename from *.emn to *.brd.

Ask them wich typ of ecad idf they have (boardstation or idf 2.0. or idf 3.0. .

Best regards

Klemen
