i need to design a lifting point on a column, i am looking for bolted single shear lap joint calculations (metric)

Best location is such that the lifting vector and the restraint vector are colinear and pass through the CM of the bolt pattern.

Does 8mt on your drawing mean 8 (metric) tonnes?

I think I can do this analysis, but if my boss brought this to me, I would advise him to take it a structural engineer. It is not just the lap joint that can fail.

I would have to agree with drawoh, the requirements for lifting lugs are pretty tight and 8mt isn't some trivial weight. Judging by the pinhole size alone in relation to the rest of the lug this is probably not a great design.
