Hi,

I have a contact problem in Ansys Workbench 15.0 Static Structual, I want to investigate under which load a pipe comes in contact with a plate (a parametric investiagtion).

Both the pipe and the plate have fixed supports.
Of course this is a pretty simple problem that can be solved analytically but I have a more complex problem involving the same problematic.
I have tried with the frictionless contact and it works if the the two objects will be in contact with each other but if the load is not great enough Ansys crashes gives me the following messsage:
"The result data for CONT is not contained in the result file. This could be due to the fact that contact status is Far Open and no contact was detected."

I have tried to twist and turn this problem around but I just can't solve it and I wonder if someone have came a cross a similar problem or know how to solve it?
In the end it feels like a simple problem, just analyze if two boides are in contact or not...
The mesh shouldn't be a problem because it is fine.

Thank you in advance.
/Anders

I think that you have to change the pinball region of your contact to at least the minimum distance of the two bodies so that contact can be detected.
