I'm trying to learn how to use components in MathCAD 7 to import and export data, but I seem to be stuck on step one. When I select Import > Component the Component Wizard pops up but it's blank. There's just a dialog box labeled Component Wizard that contains a field with the label "Select a component to insert:" but with nothing in the field to select.

Step two in every help article on components is "select <x> from the list," but there's no list. Do I have to activate something to make this feature usable? What have I missed?

Me thinks you need Mathcad Pro for that, is that what you got?

No, just Mathcad 7 Standard. Maybe that's the problem.

Well, if it's that important to you I could, of course, may be reinstall Mathcad 7 Standard again and find out. I still have the CD somewhere in my archives.

And I was wrong. Even in the Standard edition you have Axum, File Read or Write, Input Table and Output Table.
