Best metal for corrosive environments in the oil and gas sector

Hello all,

I am looking to do a study on several types of materials to be used in the oil and gas sector, specifically downhole. I am looking for a relatively soft metal that is ductile/malleable and corrosive resistant against hydrogen sulfide, CO2, and several types of chlorides. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Some that I had in mind were silve, aluminum, and copper. Have a good day
 
Copper is not compatible with hydrogen sulfide. I'm not sure that Al or Ag are either. Are you familiar with ISO 15156 and/or NACE MR0175? These standards include limits for materials intended for this type of service.
 
Aluminum Bronze seems a good choice for malleable applications and for higher strength an alloy of Silicon Bronze could be used for fasteners. Keep in mind if any kind of flammable environment is involved bronze is used for making non-sparking tools.
 
Isn't that service exactly what the NACE spec's were developed for?
You may also look for material types recommended by the API for service in sour gas environment.
