I consider myself fairly versed in BTH-1 and B30, but would like to attend a course/seminar from a guru on the topic. Im thinking a week long, classroom style, page turn of the spec with worked out examples. Anyone know if this exists?

Some of the best education and growing as an engineer have been in environments and events like this.

Thanks for any leads.

I have not heard of any training courses, at least not offered through ASME. At my first company, in 2008/2009 or so, we paid Mr. Duerr to come in and teach us the finer points of padeye design. You could try reaching out to the chair or vice-chair of the BTH committee.

Please note that is a "v" (as in Violin) not a "y".

One that always make me wonder is the correct safety factor to use because it varies with AISC code specifically lifting lug.

For me, I just use 2 as "impact load" then design the lifting lug to yield per AISC.
It is still less then 5 against ultimate.
