as far as i am concerned batteries should never be allowed
to get into a condition where extraordinary means are needed to remove normal sulfation from battery plates.
now having said that,
certainly not ever set of batteries is carefully maintained properly so some normal sulfation becomes harder and crystalizes making it difficult to break back down and return the acid to the electrolyte.
the problem is desulfators have not been proven to work any better than a carefully controlled equalization charge in any double blind tests done by any testing authority that is not affiliated with the manufacture of a desulfator.
what testing that has been done was done by sandia labs, and the result were inconclusive.
what makes you ask? do you have a set of batteries that need some extraordinary recovery?
