Should battery be connected on line?

How will the float charger monitor battery if its connected on bus? Apologies for a bad doodle here.

By a combination of voltage and net charging current.

Are you wondering if the charger can detect if the battery is no longer in the circuit?

Yes, pretty much. We are using eliminator/paralleling circuits and i have no clue how this will work?
 
There are current probes that can be installed in series with the battery to detect charging current.

Also, some chargers will temporarily drop the float voltage below the battery voltage to ensure the battery is still in the circuit.

Kind of a hot topic these days due to TPL-001-5.
