AWWA Butterfly Valves Short vs Long Body 1

Hi guys,

AWWA C504 provides 2 options for butterfly valve laying lengths: short body and long body. Can anyone tell me what the plus and and minus's are and when to apply one or the other?

I think this thread will help. I think the different lengths are offered to be in place direct replacements of existing gate valves. I don't see any other reason for longer BFV, headloss or flow controlling wise.
