I am trying to find ER309LMo wire certified to AWS/SFA 5.9. I cannot find a single manufacturer that will produce it to the spec. All say N/A on the packages. Does anyone know why?

I have had the same problem before, and never could find one that met the AWS class. If you can use it, how you handle it depends on what welding code you are working to. If you really need a classified wire, can you try a metal cored or flux cored wire? It is easier to find those as the composition can be adjusted by the fill ingredients. I'm guessing that the ER309LMo is not a big mover, so not many companies want to buy the large heats required to make it.

Hi Vanci,

Attached is the product datashete from Kobelco for GTAW, ER-309LMO Filler. If you're in North America, feel free to contact their Houston Office.

You may search Metrode products also, datasheet B-51.Their product is classifed as SFA 5.9 ER-309Mo.But when you go through the datasheet you'll see that it's a Low "C"(Max-0.03%)filler.Possibly "C" is kept low for dual-grade certifiaction.
Metrode is represented by Euroweld, Mooresville,NC.

Hope this would help you.

Thanks
