Dear Expert,

I have some inquiry regarding the ASTM material. Let say we want to buy SA-193 material but our supplier provide us ASTM A193/A193M-16. Based on ASME II 2015 Edition clearly mention the other acceptable edition for ASTM is 2005 through 2012. So, it's mean the ASTM material provide by our supplier is not comply with the ASME 2015 code?

Yes, As per ASME sec II part A, the 2016 edition is not acceptable. However, there is a clause in Sec II 2015,mandatory Appendix II, II-300 which clearly states that later edition may be used provided the material manufacturer or ASME certificate holder provides with evidence to AI that corresponding ASME requirements have been met. Translating in short, just ask manufacturer to prepare a comparison sheet betwwen ASTM edition and ASME sec II and you can get it signed by customer at your end.

Dear Arkaprava,

Thank you for your explanation.
My understanding is we still can use the material as long as all the specification comply with ASME 2015 Edition but the manufacturer need to prepare a comparison sheet between ASTM edition and ASME Sec II.
Please advise me if i'm wrong.
