Hi all,

I'm just trying to make the PQR and WPQ performance qualifications required for a pressure vessel. We have to make fillet welds in small Ø pipe (NPS 3/8) connected to shell, we want to do it with GMAW process. So my questions are:

For performance:

- Do I have to make test coupon of this small diameter fillet-weld acc. Table QW-452.4 or could be qualified by Table QW-452.6 with a butt groove weld plate coupon test for example?

For procedure:

- I think it is sufficient qualifying the mentioned groove plate-plate test, is that ok?

The questions cames because with European Norms more or less you have to use a "pipe" coupon for procedure or performance of this fillet weld and acc. ASME IX I deduce that you don't need it if you have qualified welders with plate-plate groove welds.

Thanks to all in advance.

Groove Welds will qualify fillets for both performance and procedure qualification. For performance see QW-303.1/Table QW-461.9; for procedure see QW-202.2

Thanks for clarification david339933.
