The majority of the projects I have been working on are low rise wood buildings which usually fall within the criteria for the Envelope Procedure, Part 2: Enclosed Simple Diaphragm Low-Rise Buildings (ASCE 7-16 28.4). The problem I've been seeing is there is no provisions regarding the wind pressure on parapets. The Direction Method and Envelope Procedure both have significant load increased for parapets which leads me to believe there should be for the Simplified Method as well right?
I know the simplified method produces conservative values compared to the other methods but is it accurate to say that it's conservative enough to not account for a parapet increase?
