Dear all,

I was asked to look for suppliers that can make "CPM-SU-5012-B, Aluminizing of Stainless Steel Fasteners", which is 347 SS coated with diffused aluminum.

Does anyone know about it ?

I know about the aluminizing process, but have never heard of using it for stainless steel fasteners. Aluminum is often deposited onto stainless steel sheet for automotive exhaust applications using the same hot-dip process that is used for galvanizing (zinc). Other processes use thermal spray or vapor/diffusion techniques. I would start by contacting one of these companies:

There is a process for electroplating aluminum onto steel substrates, using a non-aqueous bath. Process is performed by AlumiPlate in Minnesota.

What is the advantage of covering stainless steel with aluminium? I never heard of it.

It is used widely in automotive exhaust components. From AK Steel:

"...hot dip aluminum coating provides excellent resistance to pitting from muffler condensate and road salt, allowing the exhaust system to resist internal chlorides and retain good external appearance, even at uncoated welds. The aluminum coating significantly extends the life of the exhaust system over that of bare stainless."
