Hello -

Can someone please explain to me what a "Transition Plenum chamber" is and any differences between a standard plenum and the transition one.

Also any advantages of one over the other design?

Thanks in advance,

Kim

Kimdelfield,

A transition plenum in an air-cooler is simply one which attempts to make a smooth change in shape from the rectangular tube bundle face to the round fan ring(s). I don't think there is any real advantage to this type of construction, but they look nice. They are certainly more difficult to fabricate than a simple rectangular plenum with round fan rings in the top or bottom.

They have often been used be certain manufacturers, mostly in induced-draft coolers.
