Hi,
I have a question about material SA/A335Gr.P91.
Before, we use SA/A335Gr.P91 for boiler main steam piping.
But this year, this material separate to SA/A335Gr.P91 TYPE1 & SA/A335Gr.P91 TYPE2.
Only can find some composition is different but no any further information about allowable stress(SEC II-D) & welding (SEC IX)
I'll very appreciate if there is any information for me to reference.
Thanks

Arstine

You will want to reference ASME Code Case 2864-1.

The maximum allowable stresses do change slightly above 1000 F

Hi,

Thanks for reply
I'vd check code case (ASME BPVC.CC.BPV-2019), I only find "Case 2864", there is no Case 2864-1.
Could you tell me where to download such information
Thanks

Arstine

Code Cases are not for download. More info on getting a copy.
The -1 in 2864-1 indicates a revision of 2864, however I wasnt able to locate this revision, it seems 2864 is current.

hi

The code case 2864 is ASME 2015.
P91 TYPE1/2 is shown in ASME 2019, so I think 2865-1 should be a new revision of code case.
But i just cant find it.
Thanks

Arstine

2864-1 is in the 2019 Code Cases for Boiler and Pressure Vessels. You will need to purchase 2019 Code Cases.

I have the 2019 edt of BPV CC, and mines only lists CC2864:

The link I proivided doesnt show rev 1 either. Are you on an update cycle that may have recently issued this revision, whereas the pdf on the website isnt fully up2date yet?

Code Case 2864-1 was approved June 2019, and is found in Supplement 2 of the 2019 Code Cases. It is possible that Supplement 2 was recently released.

From what I can find, Supplements 1 and 2 have been active (released) since July 2019.

OK, ill dig deeper then to see what Im missing. Thanks for the update!

dear sir
I got the solution from IHS and get the code case supplements 2.
But here comes other question
The ASME BPVC.II.D.C-2019 show SA335P91 allowable is still different to code case 2864-1 table 3/3M
which one it type1 or type2

Table 3 of Code Case 2864-1 is for Type 2.

If you look at the chemistry requirements of Table 1, and compare them to the chemistry requirements from SA-335 of Type 2, they are the same. The code case tells you to use Table 3 for chemistries that meet Table 1.
